Coca-Cola Marks the Start of Christmas

Coca‑Cola Great Britain announced its latest Christmas campaign to help kick start the festive period and spread happiness to people across the UK. This year, the seasonal favourite ‘Holidays are Coming’ TVC will kick-start the integrated Christmas marketing campaign, followed by a new TVC that is sure to incite the holiday spirit amongst its audiences nationwide.

The famous ‘Holidays are Coming’ TVC broke during the X Factor on Saturday 9th November, and for many, will mark the official countdown to Christmas.

Later in the month, Coca‑Cola Great Britain will also introduce a new TVC entitled ‘Shooting Star’, which focuses on a central theme of delivering good deeds during the Christmas season.

‘Shooting Star’ will premiere on 23rd November and shows people carrying out simple acts of kindness for the ones they love, to share what they have, when they can. ‘Shooting Star’ is set to a heart-warming soundtrack by Elvis Presley, which further inspires the warm feelings associated with the festive period.

The new-look ad opens with a scene featuring Santa working hard to create a shooting star, in his workshop. The shooting star itself becomes emblematic throughout the TVC as it acts as a catalyst for inspiring people to perform random acts of kindness. These include allowing your best friend to take the winning goal, saving a tree with a simple red ribbon or a father buying his son his first car.

AM_HAC_TruckCoca‑Cola will also build on the success of previous Christmas campaigns by bringing back the Coca‑Cola Christmas Truck Tour. This further cements Coca‑Cola’s core Christmas strategy, which this year centres around good deeds and giving back during the festive period. The Christmas Trucks themselves will be touring around the kindest hotspots and cities across the country that were identified through research carried out by Coca‑Cola.  A dedicated hub will also be set up on CokeZone, highlighting where the truck will be during the tour.

In true Coca‑Cola Christmas tradition, the famous Sundblom designed Santa will be adding a festive presence to packaging across both Coca‑Cola and Diet Coke 2L bottles, 330ml cans and multipacks, encouraging consumers to “Share a Coke with Santa”.  Merging two of the brand’s most successful campaigns to date; Christmas and Share a Coke, consumers will also be able to digitally customize a special ribbon designed bottle to send to friends and loves ones via the Coca‑Cola Facebook page. Bríd Drohan-Stewart, Marketing Director for Coca‑Cola Great Britain explains:

Coca-Cola has become synonymous with spreading festive cheer and our Christmas campaigns, old and new, mark the unofficial countdown to Christmas. Shooting Star’s central creative remains true to the brand’s core values of spreading happiness around the world.

The world famous Piccadilly Sign will also spread further festive magic, as it plays the ‘Holidays are Coming’ TVC to Christmas shoppers as they pass through the busy area.
